Q1. What first attracted you to Soul Music, is this relevant today?

I liked Soul Music from an early age (as well as the Bay City Rollers and David Cassidy!) but can remember liking the Jackson Five, The Chi Lites and a lot of Motown artists and my taste in music remains the same with little deviation, I also have a deep love for Reggae and Lover’s Rock too.

Q2. What are your top 5 favourite soul tracks?

Music of the Earth – Patrice Rushen
Love Light in Flight – Stevie Wonder
A Song for you – Donny Hathaway
Heavy Love Affair – Marvin Gaye
Love Ballad – George Benson

Q3. What are your favourite three record labels?

Motown – The roots of all soul music
Philadelphia – The Natural progression of Motown
Expansion – Bringing us the many new sounds of today

Q4. Who are your favourite five artists?

Stevie Wonder
Marvin Gaye
Patrice Rushen
Donny Hathaway
Teena Marie

Q5. What are your top three soul clubs of all time?

The Lyceum in the Strand
The Royalty in Southgate
Gullivers

Q6. What radio experience did you have before you joined Solar?

In comparison to my fellow dj’s I have probably had the least experience with 18 months to date. I started on Fuzionlive.com and have been on Stompradio.com as well.

Q7. What is/are your main criteria in choosing records for airplay?

When choosing I record to play I have to like it and want to share my love of that song with others as well.

Q8. Why would you recommend Solar to a listener?

Solar is the premier station for anyone who loves black music of the past, present and future.

Q9. Which other DJs do you admire and why?

Robbie Vincent – Loved to listen to his show on Radio London
Froggy – just the best mixer ever!
Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson remember going to the Electric Ballroom just to hear his sets
Norman Jay MBE – Just Brilliant
David Rodigan – The best reggae DJ there is and ever will be

Q10. How would you like to be remembered by a listener?

I would like to be remembered for my passion for the music and not being afraid to play different genres of music back to back.

Q11. What do you do to relax?

Relax? Wouldn’t that be nice! I love to shop especially for shoes, I love attending fitness classes especially spinning and zumba and have an ongoing love affair with chocolate devouring at least four bars of the stuff a day and love spending time with my children, friends and family.
