My shows these days are ad hoc, laden with oldies and album tracks laden with odd features and segues and cover discovers
and a nod to the new tunes too but still with Soul harmonies, funk Rhythms and jazz improvisations and the occasional ropy harmony just for a bit of fun from my own ageing vocal chords.
What attracted you to soul music in the first place, and does this still apply today?
Sweet harmonies, Funky bass driven rhythms, danceable beats, harmonic strings.
What are your top five favourite soul tracks?
I have No top five any more there are too many great songs and great cover versions of
favourites that Iam discovering /re discovering or are being re covered today.
What are your favourite three record labels?
A toughie! Philly international and it’s subsidiaries and early incarnations and counterparts
Motown/ and warner/Atlantic /stax but really they too numerous to mention what with all the indies that have come, gone and been absorbed
Who are your favourite five artists?
For me today it is anybody that can do it live as well as on record
however Temptations, Heatwave, any harmony act like the Dells and the Dramatics, Solo acts Johnny Taylor and the likes of Sam Dees, Curtis Mayfield,

Goldmine Canvey (The three I remember the most)
What radio experience did you have before you joined Solar?
I worked on WHR AT Watford Hospital at various clubs, pubs and restaurants, Weddings,parties and I practised at home.
On Horizon Radio and Essex Radio before the current incarnation of Solar
What is/are your main criteria in choosing records for airplay?
I simply have to like them and the way they are produced and performed.
Why would you recommend Solar to a listener?
Pure variety!! and the enthusiasm that comes from a presenter or dj getting behind a track/album /act/ and the station
Which other DJs do you admire and why ?
These days they are very numerous we are in different times but Tony Monson, Robbie V ,Jeff young , Emperor Rosko ,John Leech,
Virtually all of the Solar Dj’s I have heard past and present and from the old days also Dave Collins, Norman jay, Greg Edwards, Louie Martin and Martin Collins, Roger Scott, Kenny Everret and Graham Dene, Colin Bartlett, Clive Richardson, Richard Searling, Ralph Tee and many many more including,
the late Mike Smith were and are all inspirational and enjoyable to me, Iam sure a few others will come to mind later as well

I would like to be remembered for enjoying what I did and sharing what I enjoyed !)
What do you do to relax ?
I like listening to many types of music
A couple of quiet pints, A nice walk whilst taking photographs or just occasionally being vacous!
