"Sounds On Circles"

“Sounds On Circles”
Presented by Paul Clifford, my favourite Soul & Jazz sounds of the moment – Old & New…there will be weekly features such as the ‘Sounds of New Soul’ and ‘Sounds of Yacht Soul’ along with a rotation of features depending on what sounds I am listening to currently… because all the sounds I love originate from circles.

What attracted you to soul music in the first place, and does this still apply today?

I was born with music in the blood – my father used to run Otis Redding’s Fan Club and my mum always said that I inherited his love of soul music when I was the womb!

Patti Labelle – It’s Alright With Me

I was never into soul clubs when I was growing up.

What radio experience did you have before you joined Solar

I have been doing shows on Solar Radio since 2007 … they are number one for Soul Music!

What is/are your main criteria in choosing records for airplay

As long as it sounds good to me then it has a chance … I am always striving to find that underplayed hidden gem.

Why would you recommend Solar to a listener

Because if you love Soul music then Solar has got it!

Which other DJs do you admire and why

Richard Searling & Ralph Tee – huge influences on my soul education and they inspired me to do radio shows.

How would you like to be remembered by a listener

Someone who played music which inspired the listener to go out and buy that track so that they could listen to it all over again.

What do you do to relax

Listen to music … what else!
