What radio experience did you have before you joined Solar?

Two and half years playing on a couple internet stations, Caister Soul Weekend Radio and before that I played on several pirate radio stations back in the 90s – although I’ll deny everything!

What is/are your main criteria in choosing records for airplay?

Does it fit the mood or programming of the show?
Do the records flow together?
Do they mix well?
Will they make the listener smile and dance?
If its a yes to all of these then it will be getting played!

Why would you recommend Solar to a listener?

Absolutely, its the perfect mix of modern and classic sounds that cover several decades of beautiful soul music. Its the best soundtrack to reminisce, dance and forget your worries.

Which other DJs do you admire and why?

I have a broad spectrum of DJs that I admire and aspire to be, here is a selection: Tony Blackburn, Kenny Everett, Terry Wogan – some of the pioneers in radio presentation.
My favourite soul DJ list is endless as I am always drawing inspiration from new and old. I am very lucky to play amongst some of the nicest, more professional and musically-aware DJs.

How would you like to be remembered by a listener?

As a DJ that plays for the people, choosing music that makes them remember great times and gets them up to have a dance. Someone who never takes himself too seriously and thrives on enjoying the music as much as they do.

What do you do to relax?

Music is my life!
