Q1. What first attracted you to Soul Music, is this relevant today?

In the late 70s discovering Greg Edwards on Capital Radio, Robbie Vincent on Radio London and the London soul pirate radio station Radio Invicta. The music I heard from these shows just sounded far superior to anything in the pop charts at the time and from then on I was hooked.

Q5. What are your top three soul clubs of all time?

Once you have been to Southport nothing else compares when it comes to the atmosphere, variety of music to be heard and dj’s, live acts to be seen.


Q6. What radio experience did you have before you joined Solar?

My first venture into radio was in the early 80s when I had my own FM pirate station which although only small was great fun. In 1986 I became involved in a London pirate station called Starpoint FM where I presented shows up until its closure at the end of 1990.

Q7. What is/are your main criteria in choosing records for airplay?

As long as it is a good song regardless of style, tempo or era I will try and work it into a show.


Q8. Why would you recommend Solar to a listener?

It is a one stop shop for any soul music fan. During a typical there will be a show to cater for just abouts anyone who loves soul music.

Q9. Which other DJs do you admire and why?

Bobby & Steve. Paul Anderson, I loved the Kiss FM shows presented by Bobby and Steve and the way they would create a great feel good party atmosphere on the radio mixing up the soulful house, disco and 80s club tracks with a lively style of presentation.


Q10. How would you like to be remembered by a listener?

A vinyl junkie.

Surfing (the net that is).
