What attracted you to soul music in the first place and does this still apply today?
Influenced by my Brother buying records. My Ears were drawn to Motown and Stax records he was buying, Then a friend of my brother played a James Brown track that was it I was hooked. Went to a local youth club where a DJ called Dave Tolehurst played some great Soul, Started buying myself then DJing around Eastbourne & Brighton Area’s in late 70’s. Tuned into Robbie Vincent & Greg Edwards for my weekly fix. Went to the 1st Caister in 1979 and Alldayers . Been collecting ever since.

The Pockets Come Go with Me, Marvin Gaye What’s Going On (LP),Bobby Womack The Poet (LP), Ashford & Simpson It Seems To Hang On, Michael Henderson Take Me I’m Yours.

Philiadelphia International Records, Blue Note, Motown
What are your top three Soul Clubs of all time?
Inn Place Brighton, The Royality, Flicks.
What radio experience did you have before joined Solar?
2 years with Ramjam Radio (Sunshine Coast Soul Show) 6 years with Sound Fusion Radio.net (Just Jazz, Award winning best podcast by Jazz Evangelist Magazine) (Soul Vault, Soul Survivors Magazine Top 10 nominated show)
What is/are your main criteria in choosing records for airplay?
There is so much great music that does not get played. So I look for LP tracks rare and underplayed but also club classics. I like all styles of Soul.
Why would you recommend Solar to a listener?
Great Variety of music and DJ’s each bring something new to your ears.

Robbie Vincent my musical education, Greg Edwards Ground Breaking, Tony Monson Legend, Andrew Schriener Knowledge.
